The Story of Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup

For the real scoop on Three Twins' flavors, we went straight to the source: Founding Twin Neal Gottlieb. Here’s what he says about a perfect flavor pairing, our Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup.

There are certain combinations that are just meant to be: coffee and donuts, bagels and cream cheese, bacon and anything.

There are others that just aren't: birthday cake and ketchup, oatmeal and tartar sauce, corn flakes and meatballs.

The pairing of chocolate and peanut butter is one of those combinations where the sum is greater than its parts. If ingredients could talk, these two would whisper, "You complete me," to one another.

Our Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup is simply smooth, balanced and really quite good. Starting with our base, we add cocoa, smooth peanut butter and Madagascar vanilla. The chocolate base that we create is lighter than that of our Bittersweet Chocolate, so that the organic peanut butter can really present its subtle, rich self. The touch of vanilla that we then add completes our work and helps to make our Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream harmoniously delicious.

While this is a smooth ice cream, the creation of a similar one incorporating chocolate, peanut butter and chunks of something delicious is certainly a future possibility for the chunk lovers out there.

Now then, grab your other half and enjoy the pairing of chocolate and peanut butter together.

Fun fact: When Neal was a young little leaguer, he and his family would frequently follow up games with a trip to Friendly's. Stopping at the old-fashioned ice cream parlor was a true treat, and whether Neal’s team had won or lost, he always ordered a sundae topped with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. That favorite flavor combination was an early inspiration for today's Three Twins Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup.
